Liana Z. Ortiz Marrero and Yetxiel Ruiz Sanchez, emerging talents from All Bout Cycles' Síntesis development program, are ready to make their mark on the international stage next week at the Pan American MTB Championships in Soldier Hollow, Utah, U.S.A. Below, find out their thoughts on this exciting opportunity they are about to undertake.
Liana Zoé Ortiz Marrero: A Champion's Spirit
Liana, a young cyclist with an unwavering fighting spirit, is ready to make history at the Pan American Championships. At 13 years old, Liana embodies the determination and courage of a true champion. "I feel like a very lucky girl to have such a great and wonderful opportunity," Liana shares with humility and gratitude. "It's something I never imagined at this age I would be achieving. It means a lot to me since it was a dream I had since I was a little girl and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to be representing Puerto Rico."
Since her childhood, cycling has been more than a sport for Liana; it has been her passion and her dream. "Since I was little I've learned a lot of things that have worked for me throughout my cycling," she reflects. "The advice I've been given to never give up and always push forward has really worked for me. They have also taught me to always fight to achieve my dreams and not give up until I achieve them, like this time."
With steely determination and a success-focused mindset, Liana delivers an inspiring message to all young people who dream of reaching great heights in their lives. "Never leave your goals behind because of any complicated obstacle," she wisely advises. "It's not always going to be the easy road that leads to great opportunities. Like daddy always told me: 'focused and disciplined'."
Yetxiel Ruiz Sánchez: A Determined Return
Yetxiel returns to the Pan American Championships in his first year in the Junior category, after debuting last year in the Cadet category and achieving a remarkable 7th place. Since his start in the sport last year, Ruiz joined the All Bout Cycles system. This will be his second year representing Puerto Rico as part of the national team. Yetxiel has been constantly growing as an athlete and as an individual, and now prepares to face the challenges ahead with confidence and determination. "I feel proud to be able to represent Puerto Rico again in a Pan American Championship in a stronger category," Yetxiel shares with sincerity. "But I have prepared for this, and I am confident that I will do well."
For Yetxiel, representing Puerto Rico in the Pan American Championship means much more than simply competing; it is an honor and a privilege that has been earned through effort and sacrifice. "For me it means a lot since I put in a lot of effort and sacrifice and it is always a pride to represent your country," he shares with humility.
His message to young people who dream of achieving their goals is clear and direct: "Train, have discipline, have clear goals, be strong mentally and enjoy the process." These words are a reminder that success does not come easy, but with determination and dedication, any dream is achievable. Ruiz Sánchez is more than a talented cyclist; he is a symbol of perseverance, determination and courage.
With every pedal stroke, Liana and Yetxiel will carry with them the pride of their country, the support of their team and, above all, of their family. Their dedication and hard work have brought them to this moment, and they are ready to take on whatever the competition throws at them.
We are excited to see our cyclists in action this coming week, representing Puerto Rico and All Bout Cycles with pride and passion.
We thank the sponsors of the Síntesis development program for the support they have given these athletes. We also give special thanks to the Puerto Rico Cycling Federation, Puerto Rico MTB Commission and the Puerto Rico Olympic Committee for making this new chapter possible.
